I create Original and Custom Figurative Fine Art, drawn freehand with pencil on wood. My series of works are based on my emotions, life experiences and the people around me, pulled from my journals that I continue to fill. The ļ¬gures are drawn freehand with a #2 mechanical pencil though sometimes colored pencil, chalk, or watercolor is added to accentuate the meaning of a piece. As most creations happen, using raw wood as my canvas was a happy accident but one I continue to use. It serves as a mirror, reflecting my words, skin, durability and grainy uniqueness. The simplicity of drawing freehand with a mechanical pencil on raw wood, fosters an environment conducive to creating such personal, intimate moments and poses. In the nude, there is no hiding one’s flaws; expressing vulnerabilities fuels confidence to break down barriers giving way to freely share and connect with open hearts and minds. Like journaling, music plays an integral role in both my creative process and generation of ideas; lyrics spark images, beats boost motivation and simple melodies eliminate distractions. "Moga", a choreographed stretch, was created to help balance and meditate between the Art. Combining these outlets, I have been self-publishing handwritten, self-healing books that include photos of completed Artworks, Moga, and the journal entries that spawned them. Towards the end of 2017, I have begun to do more speaking engagements and developed workshops based on this combination of self-healing. While my goal is to continue to challenge myself creatively; building on my style, process and subject matter; through sharing my own personal experiences through these outlets, I hope to enhance enthusiasm towards journaling and the Arts as ways of self-healing, sparking motivation, inspiration, communication and understanding...or just a place to start.
